Overview

LX-184 is a 1/2-inch drive torque wrench covering 25-250 ft-lb clockwise, with a 25-inch length. It suits wheel, axle or hitch fasteners when their specified torque and access fit; small bolts below 25 ft-lb require a lower-range tool.

Key Advantages

Model Fit

More Range For Higher-Torque Fasteners

A 1/2-inch drive and 25-250 ft-lb clockwise range suit higher specified torque jobs. Check room for the 25-inch wrench before choosing it.

Read The Scale For This Model

The micrometer uses 2.5 ft-lb steps, approximately 3.39 Nm. Read the two scales deliberately when a specification falls between the larger body marks.

Care

Protect The Setting Between Jobs

Return to 25 ft-lb after use and keep the wrench clean and dry. Do not wind below this minimum.

Wrench, Case And Calibration Certificate

LX-184 includes the long wrench, hard storage case and calibration certificate. Supply a 1/2-inch drive socket that fits the fastener.

Will it fit the job?

Match the required torque, measurement direction, square drive and working space to the equipment specification.

Job or attachmentWorksWhat to check
Truck wheel, axle and RV hitch fastenersYes, when specification fitsClockwise tightening within 25-250 ft-lb; follow the equipment maker's torque value.
1/2-inch drive socketsYesMatch the socket opening to the fastener and allow space for the wrench.
3/8-inch drive socketsNo direct fitMatch the square drive rather than the socket opening size.
Fasteners below 25 ft-lbNoUse a lower-range torque tool.
Fasteners above 250 ft-lbNoUse a higher-range torque tool.
Left-hand threaded fastenersNo calibrated reverse tighteningReversible ratchet does not provide calibrated counterclockwise measurement.
Stuck fasteners and added leverageNoDo not use as a breaker bar or add leverage devices.

Questions

Can it tighten truck wheel lug nuts?

Check your truck's wheel specification against 25-250 ft-lb clockwise. LX-184 has a 1/2-inch drive and a 25-inch length; wheel brand or truck size alone does not supply the correct lug-nut setting.

Will it cover a 217 ft-lb axle-nut specification?

217 ft-lb lies inside LX-184's 25-250 ft-lb range. Confirm clockwise tightening, the correct 1/2-inch drive socket and the vehicle's procedure for your axle.

Can I use it on RV hitch bolts?

RV hitch or wheel work fits only where the component maker calls for clockwise torque from 25 to 250 ft-lb. Allow room for the 25-inch wrench and match the socket; there is no universal RV hitch value in the product specification.

Will my 1/2-inch impact sockets attach?

A socket with a 1/2-inch square-drive recess matches LX-184 directly. Confirm its opening fits the actual bolt or nut. The socket's impact rating does not make this manually operated measuring wrench an impact tool.

Can I use it for a small bolt specified at 15 ft-lb?

15 ft-lb is below the LX-184 minimum of 25 ft-lb. Choose a lower-range wrench for that small-fastener job instead of assuming the 250 ft-lb ceiling means it covers every lower value.

Does the reverse lever permit measured left-hand tightening?

For LX-184, the reverse lever changes ratcheting direction only. Its calibrated torque measurement is clockwise, so a left-hand thread needing counterclockwise torque is outside the measuring function.

Are the handle markings in 1 ft-lb steps?

No. LX-184 adjusts in 2.5 ft-lb micrometer increments, approximately 3.39 Nm. A buyer seeking whole-pound divisions should compare the actual increment rather than read the printed marks as 1 ft-lb.

When should I choose LX-184 rather than LX-183?

Both use a 1/2-inch drive and measure clockwise. LX-184 covers 25-250 ft-lb with a 25-inch length; LX-183 covers 10-150 ft-lb and is 17 inches long. Choose the larger range for a job above 150 ft-lb, or the lower minimum when needed.
