Yes. Open the arms against the two surfaces, then read the scale matching the joint you plan to cut.

Does the scale have a verified numerical accuracy tolerance?
No numerical angle tolerance is confirmed. Engraved markings alone do not establish a quantified accuracy.
Do compound cuts need a bevel setting too?
Yes. The compound table supplies miter and bevel values for the matching crown spring angle. Follow the layout for your saw type.
How does LX-230 differ from LX-DAF7?
LX-230 is a mechanical 7-inch protractor with engraved single-cut and miter-cut scales. LX-DAF7 is a 7-inch / 180 mm digital angle finder with an LCD and stated +/-0.3-degree accuracy.
Does it need batteries?
No. Its engraved scales and pivoting arms provide mechanical readings; it needs no battery or digital display.

How do I start a corner measurement?

How do I select the crown table?
Identify the molding's 38-degree or 45-degree spring angle, take the corner reading as described, then use that spring-angle column for miter and bevel settings.
Can I use the same flat layout for single- and double-bevel saws?
Follow the layout for your saw type. The guide has separate instructions for single- and double-bevel saws, including molding orientation and inside or outside corner.
Should I cut the finished molding before testing the setup?
No. Test all settings on scrap molding first.
What should I do if an arm or scale is damaged?
Stop relying on a distorted arm or unreadable scale and contact Lexivon for guidance. Ask Lexivon about repair or accuracy checks before using it again.
Does lifetime coverage include wear and modifications?
No. Lifetime eligibility does not remove exclusions for normal wear, misuse, accidents, modifications and damage from non-original parts. Covered-defect resolution remains at Lexivon's discretion and coverage is not transferable.
