Overview

LX-TW38 is a rubber-grip 3/8-inch drive click torque wrench for compatible automotive and motorcycle fasteners specified from 20 to 120 ft-lb (27.1-162.7 Nm). It provides dual-direction measurement with a 24-tooth quick-release ratchet and a twisting collar; verify space for the 16.3-inch body.

Key Advantages

Model Fit

Three-Eighths Drive For A 20-120 Ft-Lb Interval

LX-TW38 measures 20-120 ft-lb through a 3/8-inch drive, in clockwise or counterclockwise tightening. Match that interval and drive to the equipment instructions.

  • 20-120 ft-lbinterval
  • 1 ft-lbmicrometer step

Settings

Combine The Two Foot-Pound Readings

Its 10 ft-lb main steps and 1 ft-lb micrometer steps are read together. A twisting collar retains the setting; the 24-tooth ratchet includes a quick-release socket button.

Will it fit the job?

Match the required torque, measurement direction, square drive and working space to the equipment specification.

Job or attachmentWorksWhat to check
Automotive and motorcycle fasteners requiring 20-120 ft-lbYes, when specification fitsClockwise and counterclockwise tightening within 20-120 ft-lb; follow the equipment maker's torque value.
3/8-inch drive socketsYesMatch the socket opening to the fastener and allow space for the wrench.
1/4-inch drive socketsNo direct fitMatch the square drive rather than the socket opening size.
Fasteners below 20 ft-lbNoUse a lower-range torque tool.
Fasteners above 120 ft-lbNoUse a higher-range torque tool.
Left-hand threaded fastenersYes, within rangeCounterclockwise accuracy claim is +/-6%.
Stuck fasteners and added leverageNoDo not use as a breaker bar or add leverage devices.

Questions

Can I use my 3/8-inch drive automotive sockets?

LX-TW38 has the matching 3/8-inch square drive. Automotive use still depends on a fastener specification between 20 and 120 ft-lb, the correct socket opening and room for the wrench. Socket compatibility alone does not supply the vehicle's torque procedure.

Will it fit a motorcycle job at 15 ft-lb?

15 ft-lb is below the LX-TW38 20 ft-lb minimum. Choose a lower-range instrument for that motorcycle specification instead of setting this handle below its first marked value. An attachment that fits cannot overcome the range limit.

Can it torque an axle specified at 150 ft-lb?

A 150 ft-lb axle specification exceeds LX-TW38's 120 ft-lb upper limit. Use a higher-range measuring wrench for that tightening stage and obtain the vehicle's procedure; the three-eighths drive label is not a torque-capacity guarantee beyond the rating.

Does it measure reverse-thread tightening torque?

LX-TW38 supports calibrated clockwise and counterclockwise operation, claiming +/-4% and +/-6% respectively. Verify the actual tightening direction and value for the fastener, then set the selector accordingly within the 20-120 ft-lb range.

How long is the wrench for clearance planning?

LX-TW38 is 16.3 inches (41.3 cm) long. For a strict clearance cutoff, confirm the measured tool before ordering; a rounded length is not a dimensional tolerance.

Will a half-inch drive socket attach without an adapter?

A 1/2-inch square socket interface is larger than the LX-TW38 3/8-inch drive and does not connect directly. Use a properly matched interface and follow any adapter instructions; do not confuse the socket's fastener opening with its drive size.

Which Nm interval belongs to this model?

LX-TW38's metric interval is 27.1-162.7 Nm, paired with 20-120 ft-lb. This is not the 40.7-284.7 Nm range of LX-TW12. Read the model and units before selecting a handle setting.

What does LX-TW38 offer compared with LX-182?

Both use 3/8-inch drive. LX-TW38 covers 20-120 ft-lb and measures both directions, whereas LX-182 covers 10-80 ft-lb with calibrated clockwise measurement only. The smaller LX-182 minimum and LX-TW38's reverse capability serve different specifications.
